Der mittellose Schriftsteller Christian, gerade erst in Paris angekommen, verliebt sich auf den ersten Blick in Satine, den Star des Moulin Rouge. Doch die Kurtisane hat zunächst andere Ziele. Im Auftrag des Moulin-Rouge-Besitzers Zidler, soll sie den Duke verführen, um ihn als Geldgeber für eine Theaterinszenierung zu gewinnen. Der Duke beißt an, aber durch Zufall wird Christian als Autor verpflichtet - und seine Freunde um den kleinwüchsigen Künstler Toulouse-Lautrec sind ebenfalls beteiligt. Als Satine Christians Liebe erwidert, gerät das Projekt, dessen Handlung ein Abbild der realen Ereignisse ist, in Gefahr. Denn der Duke ist rasend eifersüchtig und will Satine mit niemand teilen...
Eine Explosion der Bilder! Als ich den Film zum ersten Mal sah, dachte ich mein Fernseher explodiert. Aber der rasante Schnitt, die gewagten Kamerafahrten und die großartigen Kulissen arten nicht wie man zunächst erwarten könnte in Kitsch aus oder wirkt übertrieben. Der ganze Film ist einfach unheimlich beeindruckend. Ganz leicht hält er die Balance zwischen überdrehter Komödie und Drama und das ist gerade so faszinierend.
Aber auch die Schauspieler passen perfekt in die Story und wenn sie singend durch die Kulissen tanzen und dabei ihre ganzes Emotionenrepertoire preisgeben ist das einfach nur geil.
Vor allem finde ich die Neuinterpretationen von Rock- und Popklassikern wie Madonnas „Like a virgin“ total genial. Das ganze ist natürlich auch ein wenig ironisch zu betrachten, denn die Geschichte spielt um 1900.
Hier gelingt Baz Luhrmann sein bisher bester Film und der perfekte Abschluss zu seiner Red-Coutain-Trilogie, die mit „Stricly Ballroom“ begann und mit „Romeo + Julia“ fortgesetzt wurde.
Schauspieler :
Ewan McGregor als Christian: Wenn Ewan McGregor „Your Song“ von Elton John anstimmt hat das einfach nur Größe. Überhaupt stellt er hier sein ganzes Können unter beweis und zeigt nicht nur wie gut er singen kann.
Nicole Kidman als Satine : Sie strahlt wirklich das Flair einer 30er oder 40er Jahre Diva aus. Meiner Meinung nach war, ist und bleibt Moulin Rouge ihr bester Film.

Fazit: Ein wahrer Rausch der Sinne! Unglaubliche Liebesgeschichte, Emotionen erster Güte, fantastische Sets. Wer diesen Film nicht kennt, weiß nicht was Film möglich macht.
DAS PHANTOM DER OPER

Die Geschichte ist höchstwahrscheinlich schon jedem bekannt, wer dennoch hinter dem Mond lebt und es nicht weiß, hier eine Kurzzusammenfassung: 1870 in der Pariser Oper Populaire, das mysteriöse Phantom und Förderer des Chormädchens Christine Daaé verliebt sich in sie und verhilft ihr zum Durchbruch. Dadurch wird jedoch ihre ehemalige Jugendliebe Raoul auf sie aufmerksam und sie verlieben sich. Die Dreiecksgeschichte beginnt als Christine sich zum Phantom hingezogen fühlt.
Nachdem Das Phantom der Oper 1992 uraufgeführt wurde und weltweit zum erfolgreichsten Musical aller Zeiten avancierte war es natürlich an der Zeit für die Kinoversion. Nach dem Erfolg von „Moulin Rouge“ begab sich Joel Schumacher zusammen mit dem Musicalkomponisten schlechthin, Andrew Lloyd Webber, 2004 an die Verfilmung.
Und herausgekommen ist eines der besten Kinomusicals! Die größte Überrauschung für mich war die Besetzung des Phantoms durch den weniger bekannten Gerard Butler. Der kann aber (ich war total erstaunt) richtig gut singen. Auch sein weiblicher Gegenpart Emmy Rossum war nur aus „The Day after tomorrow“ bekannt, kann aber auf ganzer Linie überzeugen und hat zurecht für ihre Performance den Critics Choice Award als beste Hauptdarstellerin abgestaubt. Allerdings hat der Film einen Mangel: Die Besetzung des Vicomte de Chagney durch Patrick Wilson. Ich hätte das entstellte Phantom 100mal lieber vorgezogen als diesen komischen Kauz, der überhaupt nicht schauspielern kann, deswegen kann meiner Meinung nach die Dreiecksgeschichte nicht so sehr glänzen, aber die schönen Schauplätze und die unglaublich schönen Lieder machen alles wieder gut.
ABER WICHTIG: Tut euch den Film nicht auf deutsch an, sondern direkt auf englisch angucken!

Facts: War für drei Oscars nominiert (Bester Filmsong, Beste Cinematographie, Beste Filmsets) hat aber leider nichts gewonnen
Fazit: Wunderschöne Kulisse, tolle Schauspieler, herzzereißende Liebesgeschichte – was will man mehr? Mehr als sehenswert!
